My approach to the project, ''To Sense My Space'', at the beginning was to.... doodle. So that's what I did. The result was this:

A girl with a missing piece.
Negative space. I became intrigued as to how this character became this way. So I wrote a rough short story about her. She goes on a journey to find her missing piece. I developed characters and so on.
Diving into creating a story right off the bat eliminates the possibility to experiment and play. So I moved away from this. I may stray back to it further down the line, who knows.

I played around with the idea that you can capture light within a space. I glued leaves to a cardboard frame and held them to the sunlight. I really like the impression of my hand in the first photo.

After listening to the artist Mark Bradford in this video I was inspired to create my own piece where language and expressionist style painting came together.

I tried to capture the idea of camouflage & blending in with a space.

Mark Bradford describes himself as being somewhat detached for his work. With this piece the opposite can  definitely be said for me. I've literally plunged myself into the art.
